The Time I Almost Murdered My Best Friend - Writer's Workshop

It's Writer's Workshop time again over at Mama Kat's:

The prompt I choose this week is:

4.) Which appliance in your home would you most miss living without if you had to live without.
-------------------------------------

If you know anything about me, you know that I need my coffee. Seriously, I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed coffee. I know I'm addicted, and I'm pretty much fine with it. (I mean, everyone has their vice. Well, mine happens to be coffee. It could be worse right?)

I have a 2-3 hour window from the time I wake up to my caffeine ingestion deadline, and if I don't have any coffee within my 2-3 hour window, bad things will happen.

So the appliance I would most miss if I had to live without it definitely has to be my coffee-maker. I was going to say I'd miss my washer but compared to my coffee-maker, I think I could do without it since I need my coffee-maker for my health and for the safety and well-being of those around me.

This reminds me of a time last year when I spent the weekend with my best friend, Maria. (Mig was away for the weekend too at a coaches' football camp at Fresno State). So the kids and I spent the night at Maria's house.

The next morning when I woke up it was coffee time so I asked her where her coffee-maker was. She said she didn't drink coffee, so she didn't have one. I knew that she didn't drink coffee, but I thought that maybe she might have had a coffee maker lying around. I began to panic. I asked if she had any instant coffee since I was that desperate, but she said she didn't have any instant coffee either.

What? I couldn't believe it. First of all, what kind of person doesn't like coffee? And second, what kind of person doesn't have a coffee-maker in their house for the normal coffee-drinking-people that come to visit? What was I going to do?

No coffee? Someone was about to get hurt...

I began to sweat and get a little shaky and then Maria kindly reminded me that there were both a Starbucks and a McDonalds in close proximity and that she would be happy to run over to either one to get some coffee for her (normal-coffee-drinking) house guest.

Ahh, what a good friend...

Sorry Jolene! I don't drink coffee, so I'm the person without the coffee maker. Going to the store to buy one now, just in case you come for a visit ;)

Please call before you come, so the coffee-making supplies can be purchased!

I get my caffeine fix from Coke Zero.

I don't drink coffee at all so when I moved out on my own, I had no coffee maker. I didn't plan on needing one as I was single and not even remotely interested in dating anyone. Plus there was a Bojangles up the road (Bojangles is a NC fast-food chicken restaurant) so I wasn't worried. Fast forward to 4 months later when I started dating my now fiance. He is a coffee drinker...and has to have his coffee in the morning. We had a problem. Well, lucky for me, my parents had an old 4 cup coffee maker sitting around that they weren't using so they were kind enough to let me have it. And well, the rest is history. When the fiance moved in permanently, we had to buy a bigger coffee maker tho.

That is a very good friend. I don't make coffee at home during the week because I drink the office coffee. But due to that daily caffeine intake, I've started making it at home on the weekends.

Visiting from Mama Kat's.

I can't tell you how many times McDs and Starbucks saved the day when I ran out of creamer, thought I had more coffee in the pantry..etc. Not only do I turn into a killer bitch without my morning Joe...I get a killer migraine.

Too funny! I know a few people who get like that with coffee...my husband being one. You people are frightening!

I'm that way with my morning soda...I know it's weird. But I could never get into coffee, and I need that kick in the morning, so soda it was. And soda it always will be!

My caffeine source of choice happens to be Diet Mountain Dew...I can't get enough of that stuff!

Good point. I don't know what I'd do without my coffee pot either!

I had a similar thing happen while visiting a friend. I didn't run for the nearest Starbucks or whatever, and ended up with a horrific headache. I made her stop at Dunkin Donuts then, and within a few minutes I was fine. Which kind of scared me into thinking this truly is a drug, and I truly am an addict! But I still drink it. There's lots worse things to be addicted to!

That's awesome! LOL!! I LOVE coffee. I may not be quite as addicted as you are, but I do have to have my caffeine in the morning =).
